How to get Peely Sprite in Fortnite and what it does

After bringing sprites inspired by third parties, such as the John Wick Sprite, Fortnite has recently looked inward once again and introduced the Peely Sprite to players. It is modeled around Peely, an iconic Fortnite skin that was first rolled out in 2019.

Apart from Peely Sprite, another new sprite that takes inspiration from an existing Fortnite skin is the Llama Sprite, which was dropped on the same day, July 30. Prior to these, the only other original character-based sprite in the game was the Duck Sprite, which was also among the earliest sprites released at the beginning of Fortnite Runners season.

What the Peely Sprite does in Fortnite

Peely Sprite offers a unique power to the players, using which they get a ping when there are other players with rare sprites nearby, but at the cost of marking their own position on the map. This ability can prove useful when hunting for some of the most coveted Mythic-tier sprites, such as the Pollo Sprite. In other words, getting your hands on the Peely Sprite makes it easier to locate and nab other sought-after sprites.

Moreover, the Peely Sprite is also available in five different variants, including the base variant. The other forms of this sprite include its Gold, Gummy, Holofoil, and Galaxy versions. As expected, the non-base variants offer additional perks on top of the Peely Sprite’s own ability.

Where to find Peely Sprite in Fortnite

Hunting for chests and breaking into vaults

Peely Sprite is a Legendary-tier item in Fortnite. This means that it is among the rarer sprites available in the battle royale game, making it highly unlikely to be found roaming around in the open. As such, your best bet is to obtain this critter from one of the chests scattered all over the map. In particular, sprite chests and other special chests have a relatively higher chance of spawning the Peely Sprite compared to ordinary chests.

Apart from open locations and accessible buildings, many rare sprites and the chests that offer them can also be found in hidden locations, such as vaults. These locked-away rooms can be accessed using a vault key, which is often placed somewhere in the vicinity of the vault room. So, when you find either one of these two things, you can readily know that the other must be somewhere close on the map.

Taking it from opponents

While chest-hunting and vault-ransacking are among the two most straightforward ways of catching the Peely Sprite. It can also be retrieved by eliminating someone who already extracted the sprite before.

To do this, you need to have a player equipped with the Peely Sprite join the same Fortnite match as yours. While the chances of this happening can’t exactly be predicted, it is still best to be prepared.

So, to pull this off, make sure to check the sprites players carry on their back while you are still at the Spawn Island and remember the appearance of the opponent who has a sprite you desire. When he jumps off from the Battle Bus, you must follow that player, track him down, and eliminate him to take his sprite and successfully extract the same.

Indexing from friendly players

On Fortnite’s official Discord, there is a channel by the name of “sprite-runners-network”. There, you can find players willing to help others complete their sprite collection using the indexing method. What this approach entails is joining a match with another player who has a sprite you want and then borrowing it from him for extraction. Later, in the next match, you can tag along with the same player and return the acquired sprite to its original owner.

At any time, you can easily get your hands on a previously extracted sprite from the Sprites tab in Fortnite. Importantly, doing this requires a certain amount of Sprite Dust and this amount increases based on how rare the sprite is.

Rounding up

For those hell-bent on adding to their sprite collection, Peely Sprite is certainly a useful item that pushes them towards that goal. If you are one of those players, you can equip this particular sprite whenever there are new ones introduced in the game, to boost your odds of acquiring them early.

Apart from the Peely Sprite, there is an entire variant that further amplifies the possibility of grabbing highly elusive sprites, known as holofoil sprites. Equipping any one sprite from this family of sprites adds a staggering 30% likelihood of obtaining sprites that are hard to find during a match.
