With only a few days to go until Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Override rolls out, devs have been sharing glimpses of what’s coming via teaser images and videos. This ongoing hype build-up also saw the release of two full-fledged trailers that shed light on the various game characters slated to appear in the next season.
Apart from its video game IP-centric theme, Fortnite Override also has players keen because it’s going to retain the sprite gameplay feature from the previous season and build on it with a fresh set of these critters. Fortunately, a few fleeting seconds of these forthcoming sprites were also revealed in the recent media released for the new season.
Below, you can find a detailed breakdown of such images and clips, bringing forth the characters and sprites that are now basically confirmed to be a part of Fortnite Override.
A variety of characters from various game franchises, ranging from classic IPs such as Pac-Man to newer hits such as Peak, are scattered throughout Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4’s key art and trailer. These characters shall be introduced in the next season as skins, sidekicks, and other cosmetic items.
Besides video game characters appearing as Fortnite skins, there is another way they are clearly set to be used, which is as a sprite. As a matter of fact, some game-inspired sprites even appear in the Fortnite Override trailer, along with some other sprites apparently based on original characters created by Epic Games.
Ability: As seen in the trailer, equipping this sprite enables players to sprint very fast, akin to Sonic.
Ability: This sprite allows you to hover in the air and cover distances.
Ability: There was one benefit of equipping the Jazz Jackrabbit Sprite shown in the video, which was an increased jump height.
Ability: The few seconds of Jonesy using it in the trailer show what might be a boosted slide, but nothing concrete about its ability has been revealed yet.
Ability: This sprite’s power-up has to do with gun damage; however, the exact benefit isn’t known as of now.
Ability: There are few to no leads that tell more about this particular sprite’s benefit.
Ability: This critter apparently grants the power to see through walls, as can be seen in the Fortnite Override trailer.
In addition to game characters and their sprite versions, a couple of different mythic weapons were also showcased in the minute-and-a-half-long trailer. These items belong to the Mega Man and Cyberpunk 2077 IPs and are listed below.
Usage: This item is essentially like having Mega Man’s iconic Mega Buster attached to your character’s hand. It allows you to shoot rounds from it.
Usage: There is a split-second glimpse of HJSH-18 Masamune and TKI-20 Shingen guns in the trailer, which are Arasaka-manufactured weapons in the Cyberpunk 2077 lore.
Fortnite Override is shaping up to be a promising new season, not just for the game’s fans but also those invested in other game franchises that have made an appearance in the media released thus far. It will be interesting to see if this excitement and hype can translate into strong engagement numbers for the online multiplayer title.
While the aforementioned video game brands are set to have some sort of role to play in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, more could be joining the lineup sooner rather than later. In the newest development, Nintendo also teased partnering with Epic Games for Fortnite’s new season. As a result, fans have been hoping for more popular characters from the Japanese gaming giant, such as Mario and Link, to be eventually unveiled for Epic’s live-service game.
