GTA 6 vehicle customization: Every detail revealed so far

GTA 6 Extended Look finally hit Netflix last week and gave fans a plethora of different reasons to be excited about the highly anticipated title, scheduled to come out on November 19, 2026. From the stupefyingly lively world of Vice City to the highly detailed and highly customized vehicles, the nearly half-hour-long showcase contained lots of intriguing new visuals.

Speaking of vehicle customization, cars turned out to be one of the more notable highlights from the first look at GTA 6’s gameplay. Things such as heavily modded cars and race cars were given a short but prominent place in the video. Below, we have compiled all the details about GTA 6’s cars, car customization, and car-related side missions that you may have missed.

All car customization features in GTA 6

1. Cars have a wide variety of decals that can be put on spots like the back glass.
2. There is the option to mod underglow onto the car’s bottom surface.
3. Various liveries are available in mod shops, including liveries that glow in the dark.
4. The flames coming out of the exhaust pipes can be color-customized.
5. The lighting on the number plate is customizable with different colors.
6. Lug nuts on the rim of a wheel can be changed in terms of color.
7. An interior LED strip can be placed on the inside of the back glass.
8. The interior lighting of cars can be customized.

Through the GTA 6 leaks we saw last month, we already had received a good look at cars and driving in the game. However, the Extended Look has shown the true level of detail and customization that will be possible when you set foot in Vice City.

Besides the gas stations being able to repair your vehicle, you can also take them to Pay N’ Spray, a series staple, to do certain modifications such as a new paint job. However, extensive modifications would be available through dedicated mod shops, some of which are controversially exclusive to those who order GTA 6’s Ultimate Edition.

Cars in GTA 6: What changed since GTA 5

1. The driving in GTA 6 appears to feel heavier than in GTA 5, with the car weight substantially coming into play during turns and quick movements.
2. The car interior is highly detailed, complete with buttons on the car door, backseat armrest strap and even the airbag warning sticker.
3. On the outside, the headlights of cars now have daytime running lights (DRLs).
4. The underside of the chassis also has 3D details instead of 2D textures, as was the case in GTA 5.
5. Car damage is apparently more specific, with individual parts showing signs of damage.
6. The indicator on the rear lights now works according to the turns you take.
7. NPC cars can also sport a heavily customized look more often than usual.
8. Apart from acting as your transport, cars now also double up as storage, with the trunk being used to store items such as firearms in GTA 6.

These changes are understandably being implemented to enhance the realism in the GTA sequel. With that said, fans can expect the days of arcade-y car handling and physics-defying car jumps in the franchise to be numbered as the game’s launch draws near.

Vehicle-based activities in GTA 6

The Extended Look revealed a variety of different side activities in GTA 6, ranging from basketball to base jumping. In addition, there were a few vehicle-based activities on display as well. The video confirmed that illegal street racing, car racing, and off-road racing are set to be part of the forthcoming title.

Since past GTA titles have included racing as a significant part of its side content, it’s not surprising that the new GTA is also following in the footsteps and doing the same. It will be interesting to see how these activities increase in difficulty with the new car handling and weightiness incorporated into Rockstar’s title.

Fans are certainly thrilled by what GTA 6 Extended Look had to show them, as evident by the video on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel amassing 1.5 million likes, at the time of writing, in about 11 days. It not only gave the community a long-awaited deeper look at GTA 6’s gameplay but also injected more hype into it by giving a glimpse at the level of meticulous work Rockstar Games devs have once again done this time around.

After shipping two monumental open-world action-adventure titles in 2013’s GTA 5 and 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2, it will be exciting to see all that the GTA makers have prepared for fans to experience this year. Overtaking those two behemoths of a hit might generally be considered a tall order for any game, but judging by what experts have been saying, GTA 6 seems to be fairly up to the task.
