Apple’s 2027 roadmap includes new iPad Pro models and a redesigned MacBook Pro

Apple could have a busy 2027 ahead. According to Bloomberg, the company is planning four new iPad Pro models for spring 2027, alongside a redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro expected to arrive during the first half of the year.

The upcoming iPad Pro lineup is expected to retain the existing 11-inch and 13-inch display sizes, with the biggest changes focusing on internal hardware upgrades rather than a redesigned exterior.

Spring 2027 refresh focuses on internal upgrades

Bloomberg reports that Apple is preparing four iPad Pro models, with two variants each in the 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. The refresh is expected to focus primarily on faster chips, improved performance, and other internal enhancements while keeping the current industrial design.

The report also notes that Apple has previously tested a vapor chamber cooling system for the iPad Pro to improve sustained performance and reduce thermal throttling. However, it remains unclear whether the technology will make it into the final production models.

Apple last updated the iPad Pro lineup in October 2025 with the M5 chip. Earlier this year, the company also increased the starting prices of both iPad Pro models by $200.

Previous rumors suggested Apple was developing an 18.8-inch foldable iPad Pro for 2027. However, Bloomberg’s latest report indicates that these four upcoming models are simply refreshed versions of the existing 11-inch and 13-inch iPad Pro lineup.

Redesigned MacBook Pro and M7 chip also on the roadmap

Bloomberg also reports that Apple is developing a redesigned entry-level 14-inch MacBook Pro, codenamed K104, with a launch targeted for the first half of 2027.

The notebook is expected to adopt the same new design language Apple is reportedly preparing for future higher-end MacBook Pro models, including rumored touchscreen support.

According to the report, Apple had previously completed development of another entry-level MacBook Pro, codenamed J804, which was originally expected to launch this year with the existing design and a base M6 chip. Those plans have reportedly changed as Apple reshapes its product roadmap.

Bloomberg also reiterates that Apple is accelerating development of the M7 processor, which could debut in the first half of 2027 to better support more demanding on-device AI workloads.

The report cautions that ongoing memory shortages and broader component supply constraints could still affect Apple’s release schedule.

If Apple remains on track, however, 2027 could become one of the company’s busiest hardware years in recent memory, with refreshed iPad Pro models, a redesigned MacBook Pro, and next-generation Apple silicon all expected to arrive within months of each other.
