Apple briefly crossed a $5 trillion market capitalization during intraday trading on Tuesday, becoming only the second publicly traded company to reach the historic milestone.

After spending months trading places with Nvidia as the world’s most valuable company, Tuesday’s rally pushed Apple’s market value above the $5 trillion mark. The company’s exact market capitalization will continue to fluctuate with its share price and ongoing stock buyback program, but the milestone marks another significant achievement for the iPhone maker.

Apple joins Nvidia in the $5 trillion club

Apple and Nvidia have spent much of the past year alternating as the world’s most valuable publicly traded company.

Nvidia became the first company to surpass a $5 trillion market capitalization in October 2025, and Apple has now joined it after reclaiming the top spot during Tuesday’s trading session.

Apple was also the first company to achieve $1 trillion, $2 trillion, and $3 trillion market capitalizations. However, that streak ended at $4 trillion, when Nvidia and Microsoft reached the milestone before Apple.

By crossing the $5 trillion mark, Apple has once again joined an exclusive group that currently includes only one other companyβ€”Nvidia.

The milestone comes just ahead of Apple’s earnings report

The achievement comes only days before Apple’s quarterly earnings report, scheduled for July 30, giving investors another reason to closely watch the company’s financial results.

Apple is also preparing for a major leadership transition. Tim Cook will become Executive Chairman on September 1, while John Ternus will officially take over as Apple’s new CEO.

Alongside the executive transition, investors will be looking to the upcoming earnings report for insights into Apple’s financial performance, AI strategy, hardware sales, and outlook for the coming quarters.

Whether Apple can maintain its $5 trillion valuation will likely depend on its earnings results, future product roadmap, and continued investor confidence as it enters a new leadership era.
