GTA 6 Cyberleek leaks timeline: Everything we know so far

GTA 6 leaks have been the talk of the town for nearly a week, as the hacker group known as Cyberleek has been relentlessly dropping at least one new video every day. These leaked clips have revealed a lot of previously unverified information, particularly about GTA 6’s gameplay. This is one aspect that Rockstar Games has still not talked about much, which should change with August 27’s official extended look.

Even before Rockstar Games released the first trailer for GTA 6, the game had already been hit with a major leak giving a very early look at what the devs were cooking. The latest leak, coordinated by hackers who champion gamers’ rights in their “manifesto” but don’t shy away from marketing their memecoin in their videos, is similar, if not bigger, in terms of magnitude.

As spotted by sources including PC Gamer, the Tate McRae song “Sports Car”, released in January 2025, was found to be playing on the radio in one of these GTA 6 leaks. Keeping this in mind, it’s logical to assume the leaked videos show a build of the game from some time last year. Based on the fact that none of the leaks yet show the player taking control of Lucia, there are speculations that the hacker may have access to an incomplete build at best, if at all.

Below, you can find the compilation of all the GTA 6 information unveiled in the leaks posted by Cyberleek. The list is put together in chronological order and will be updated in the future as and when new leaks from the same group surface online.

All GTA 6 details leaked by Cyberleek

Leak 1: Basketball minigame (August 18)

This is where it all started; the first leak that showed some GTA 6 gameplay as Jason. It showed the co-protagonist playing basketball at his safehouse. The pastime is apparently available as a minigame, and you can see the counter for the number of baskets you score. A small glimpse of the game’s water physics was also shown, courtesy of a stray rebound putting the ball in the water.

Glimpses of the stamina bar and what looks like a focus bar—akin to what we saw in 2018’s Red Dead Redemption 2—appear in the HUD. Notably, the HUD also confirmed that money in possession was separated from money at a safehouse/in the bank, as two different account balances were displayed on the screen.

It was also around this time that the entire GTA 6 map was leaked, showing Vice City and the various other regions in the state of Leonida. The other prominent locations in the game, besides the neon-lit beach city, are the larger Vice-Dale County, Mariana County, Kelly County, Lummox County, and Leonard County.

Leak 2: First look at driving, combat, and wanted system (August 18)

This video showed Jason driving a Vapid ’70 Ganado recklessly, leading to a road rage altercation with an NPC. Owing to the fistfight that followed, we got to see hand-to-hand combat in GTA 6 for the first time, alongside the use of a melee weapon (wrench). After Jason apparently killed that NPC, an evil emoji with a minus sign appeared, which hinted at an RDR 2-like honor system.

Upon committing the crime, GTA 6’s male lead gained a two-star wanted level, which also confirmed the return of the six-star wanted level system last seen in GTA 4. In the latest rendition, the cops apparently remember the appearance, outfit, and vehicle of the player character during a police chase.

Jason can also see color-changing indicators pointing to where enemies are coming from and their alert status. This gameplay mechanic is similar to what is there in existing open-world games such as Ubisoft’s Watch Dogs series. Moreover, during the ‘wanted’ sequence, it was notable that the minimap no longer showed the exact position of cops right away—a change from GTA 5.

Important this was also the leak that gave us a first glimpse at the fuel meter for the vehicle and the ability to store weapons and items in the trunk. Also, the option to reply to NPCs positively or negatively, as in RDR 2, was also featured.

Leak 3: More combat and taser gun (August 19)

The third leak showed Jason carry out an onslaught on a restricted facility’s security guards. A bit of the game’s destruction physics were on show, as the video showed the boom barrier break exactly at the point of impact with Jason’s vehicle. When the player was near someone else’s vehicle, the options “Clone Key” and “Smash Window” popped up, showing two different ways cars can be stolen in the game.

In the intense combat that followed, the GTA 6 co-protagonist is shown making quick work of security personnel, giving a look at the swift fighting animations, disarming, and slow-mo knockout camera perspective. The fight involved Jason using his handgun (Klose K17) as a melee weapon and then a Shocker to tase enemies.

There was also a player-selectable option to “Surrender” shown during this confrontation. Meanwhile, the ability to equip accessories dropped by NPCs, such as a security personnel cap, was also shown. The video’s gameplay part ended with the player character hijacking an MTL Packer truck and escaping the facility amid gunfire.

At the end of the leak, there was a small cutscene featuring Jason and Cal Hampton on a boat. This part more or less confirmed that it wasn’t just gameplay but also story bits that Cyberleaks may have access to.

Leak 4: Motorcycle traversal and performance-enhancing drug use (August 19)

This particular leak offered a good look at GTA 6’s weapon wheel, which has two separate tabs for “Weapons” and “Items”. While there are 8 weapon slots, including the unarmed/fist option, the Items tab wasn’t switched to and hence not revealed. The Weapons tab also showed two slots for what appear to be drugs, one of which is Zombix, which Jason uses in the video. A game prompt also noted that repeated usage of the drug led to temporarily receiving a weaker buff from it.

Leak 4 further shed light on the ability to pick up or loot downed enemies. This approach means NPCs no longer automatically drop cash upon dying and makes GTA 6 more realistic, just as RDR 2 did, which employed the same mechanics.

It also shared the first look at motorcycle handling and swimming physics. A button prompt to “Dive” also appeared when Jason was in water, all but confirming an underwater world will once again be there for exploration in GTA 6, like how it was in GTA 5.

Leak 5: Aircraft traversal and gunplay (August 20)

Through this video leak, anticipating fans got their first look at flying aircraft in GTA 6. In it, Jason is shown piloting a crop duster through the skies of Leonida. The impressive draw distance means that the horizon goes far back and much of the state is visible from the sky at any point.

As was the case in RDR 2, there are volumetric clouds in GTA 6 as well. The shadows, lighting, and details from the sky looked quite good in the clip, but there were a few pop-ins nonetheless.

Besides the praiseworthy graphical fidelity, the fifth leaked footage also showed the radio selection screen. It had two options: “Radio,” which showed all of Vice City’s radio stations and an “On Demand” option, which wasn’t selected by the leaker in this clip but probably is an in-game equivalent of Spotify and similar online music streaming services.

One of the most interesting parts of this video was, near the end, when Jason sprayed bullets onto a wall, writing “LEAK” on it. This made it very likely that the hackers behind it were not dealing with illegally obtained clips but possibly an entire unofficial build.

Leak 6: Sports car traversal (August 21)

Relatively simple and uneventful, this leak showed Jason hijacking a sports car, which confirmed that throwing out a driver from his seat won’t be as easy as a single button-press, like in past GTA games, and might require some brief button-mashing.

The rest of the video shows the player cruising through the city roads and navigating through traffic, giving a good peek at the game’s eye-catchingly detailed world. The textures and reflections look very good, with no noticeable pop-in.

Leak 7: Store robbery gameplay (August 22)

Leak 7 let us know that the gas stations in GTA 6 also offer a repair service for the player’s car, besides refueling. The video showed Jason assaulting a gas station convenience store employee and stealing money from the cash counter. After gaining a two-star wanted level and evading the cops, he is shown robbing another nearby gas station.

While escaping the police, Jason’s car collides with another vehicle, which triggers a slow-motion cinematic camera, suggesting that major car crashes might be shown in that manner. The leak closed out with the player entering a strip club, teasing the focus of the next leaked video.

Leak 8: Strip club (August 22)

This leak continued from where the preceding one left off and showed the player exploring a strip club named Delights Cabaret. There is a good amount of NPC density in this closed space and, obviously, a lot of partial nudity is on display.

Leak 9: Gas station NPC encounter, first look at ‘Wasted’ (August 22)

The HD-era GTA games revolutionized how NPCs go about their own life while the player takes on the story by giving some of them their own quirky actions and dialogues. One such unique NPC behavior was on full display in the ninth leaked video. In it, a conspiracy theorist can be seen filling gas in the bathtub stored in his pickup truck’s trunk. Strangely, the NPC animation during this scene was visibly all over the place.

As the video continues, Jason steals the fuel-filled truck and runs over the chasing NPC, the vehicle’s owner. Just as he takes the stolen vehicle onto the road, another vehicle crashes into the GTA 6 main character, instantly causing an explosion and concluding with the “Wasted” screen.

Right at the end of the clip, it skips to another scene where Jason is in the restroom and the prompt “Return to Lucia” appears, suggesting it was footage possibly from a dating side-activity.

Leak 10: Aircraft traversal, Vice City at night (August 23)

In another instance of Jason piloting a fixed-wing aircraft, this video flaunted the Vice City skyline during nighttime. While the visuals looked beautiful from above, there were significantly more pop-in issues with lighting and objects throughout the segment. A brief prompt telling the player about a fishing location for “Common Snook” basically confirmed the addition of fishing as a side activity in GTA 6.

Leak 11: Nudist town (August 24)

This one is the most explicit GTA 6 leak that has come out so far. It showed Jason entering what looks like a nudist gathering. There was full male and female nudity on display throughout the entirety of this leaked clip.

Near the end, Jason is confronted and attacked by another NPC for ogling her through his binoculars. Interestingly, despite the player eventually killing that NPC and some more, there is no wanted level gained—unlike the previous instances where he got one instantly. This hints at different rates of police reporting for cities and for isolated places.

Leak 12: Nightclub (August 25)

This leak saw Jason entering the Nine1Nine nightclub and exploring the place. The interior of the club showed the most crowd density in a closed space compared to all the Cyberleek clips thus far.

A highlight of this sequence is when the player character automatically starts rhythmically nodding his head when he is on the dance floor. There was also a button prompt to “Dance”, which Jason did for some moments, but the dance moves were very basic and hence forgettable.

During the final stretch of this leak, Jason can be seen interacting with NPCs. With the last character that he interacts with, we also see another button prompt for a service that costs $50. Although the watermark in the leak obscured the text of that prompt, it seemingly contained the word “Dance” at the end.

Leak 13: Beach (August 25)

Leak 13 showed Jason riding a bicycle through a crowded beach, with impressive population density and variety. This scene also included birds interacting on the terrain. Despite the beach being a highly active venue with lots of NPCs, there were no visible performance struggles observed in the video. The lighting, shadows, and water physics in the leak looked good as well.

Leak 14: Game Store (August 25)

With this video, Cyberleek shared an unprecedented count of three different video leaks within a span of 24 hours. This clip showed Jason visiting a game shop called Game Horde in Port Gellhorn. A brief glimpse early in the video showed an option, “Break In,” next to a car’s trunk, implying that we may be able to loot these storage spaces separately in GTA 6.

The store’s interior was chock-full of physical games, gaming consoles, laptops, tech accessories, arcade machines, and more. Based on the button prompts alone, it can be deduced that Jason can play on functional arcade machines and also purchase different phone cases. And, from the purchase options explored in the leak, it was confirmed that different kinds of earbuds and headphones would be available to buy, too.

GTA 6 leaks: What to expect next

Ever since the spree of leaks started, Cyberleaks has been conducting a poll for what it should show next. As also reported by GamesRadar, a new poll puts a prologue segment featuring Lucia into the picture as a possible future leak. With GTA 6 Extended Look soon to have its Netflix premiere, it seems like that story bit may roll out anytime now, given it wins the poll.

Rather anticlimactically, a chunk of GTA 6’s gameplay and features have already been shared online before Rockstar’s own official outlets could do that. However, there should be lots of more to see during the 30-minute Extended Look airing that takes place on Thursday at 12 PM PT or 3 PM ET on the aforementioned OTT platform, followed by a YouTube premiere six hours later.

It will be interesting to see how the content and pattern of Cyberleek’s GTA 6 videos change after the official showcase. In the meantime, Rockstar Games has one eye on its efforts to track down the hacker group as soon as possible, which is another intriguing story to track in parallel.
