Meta is turning Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp into subscription apps

Meta is rolling out paid subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, adding premium features like custom themes, advanced Story tools, AI features, and creator-focused analytics.

Meta is expanding its subscription strategy across Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp worldwide, giving users access to additional features that are not available in the standard versions of the apps.

Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus, and WhatsApp Plus are now rolling out

According to TechCrunch, the subscriptions are priced at:

Instagram Plus adds several exclusive features, including:

  • Story rewatch tracking
  • Unlimited Story audience lists
  • Weekly Story spotlighting
  • Super Heart animated reactions
  • Custom app icons
  • Custom profile bio fonts
  • Stories lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Searchable Story viewer lists
  • Posting to profiles without appearing in follower feeds
  • Quiet Story previews that do not register as Story views

Facebook Plus offers many of the same features as Instagram Plus. Meanwhile, WhatsApp Plus adds features such as app themes, custom ringtones, more pinned chats, list customization, and premium stickers.

Meta is also introducing new AI and creator-focused plans

Meta is also expanding its subscription strategy beyond social apps with new Meta One plans aimed at AI users, creators, and businesses.

Meta’s AI-focused subscriptions include:

  • Meta One Plus for $7.99/month
  • Meta One Premium for $19.99/month

The AI-focused plans offer higher usage limits, more advanced reasoning models, and expanded image and video generation tools.

Meta’s head of product, Naomi Gleitsaid the company is also preparing separate Meta One plans for creators and businesses:

  • Meta One Essential for $14.99/month
  • Meta One Advanced for $49.99/month

These subscriptions include features such as verified badges, impersonation protection, advanced analytics, scheduling tools, better search visibility, and audience growth tools across Instagram and Facebook.

Meta says some AI subscription plans will begin testing next month in Singapore, Guatemala, and Bolivia. Creator-focused plans are also starting tests in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand, and Bangladesh.

The company describes Meta One as a broader effort to unify subscriptions and premium features across all Meta platforms.
