These 3 iOS 27 features were missing from WWDC, but they may still arrive

WWDC 2026 gave us our first official look at iOS 27, but not every rumored feature made an appearance during Apple’s keynote. While the company unveiled major updates across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch, several rumored additions were notably absent.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a handful of features are still in development and could arrive before iOS 27 is released to the public later this year.

A simplified Modular Ultra watch face

One feature missing from WWDC was a simplified version of the Modular Ultra watch face, which is currently exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra.

The rumored design would retain the large central clock that defines Modular Ultra while removing the second row of complications. This would make the watch face better suited for standard Apple Watch models without sacrificing its distinctive look.

Apple has yet to announce the new watch face, but Gurman believes it could debut alongside this year’s Apple Watch lineup in September.

Siri could soon support more AI chatbots

Another notable omission was expanded chatbot support for Siri.

Apple currently offers ChatGPT integration through its partnership with OpenAI, first introduced in 2024. However, the rumored feature would go much further by allowing third-party AI apps to connect to Siri through a dedicated Extensions API rather than requiring separate agreements with Apple.

The proposed framework would allow multiple AI services to integrate with Siri using a common platform, eliminating the need for Apple to build individual integrations for every chatbot provider.

Unlike Apple’s current ChatGPT integration, the new system would rely on a standardized third-party framework instead of exclusive partnerships.

According to Gurman, Apple has already discussed the concept with OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, including the technical and policy requirements developers would need to meet before integrating their AI services with Siri.

Gurman also suggests several factors may have delayed the announcement:

Apple continues to challenge aspects of the European Union’s Digital Markets Act.
Offering multiple chatbot options could reduce attention on Siri AI.
OpenAI has reportedly raised concerns about certain integrations.
Adding another major AI framework alongside the new Gemini partnership could create confusion for users.

If Apple eventually launches the Extensions API, Siri could evolve into a hub for multiple AI assistants rather than relying on a single integrated service.

A customizable Camera app could still arrive

The Camera app was also rumored to receive a major usability upgrade in iOS 27.

Reports suggested users would be able to move and rearrange on-screen controls, creating a custom layout tailored to their shooting preferences. That feature was absent from the first developer beta, although Apple did introduce deeper Siri integration within the Camera app.

Gurman believes the redesigned interface remains on Apple’s roadmap and could arrive later in the beta cycle, potentially around the time Apple unveils the iPhone 18 Pro in September.

A more customizable Camera app could appeal to both casual users and photography enthusiasts by making frequently used controls easier to access.

More features may arrive before launch

Apple has already revealed the headline features coming to iOS 27, but software development continues throughout the beta testing period. Historically, Apple has introduced additional features in later beta releases and sometimes saves certain announcements for its September iPhone event.

If these reports prove accurate, users could still gain access to a new Apple Watch face, broader AI integrations for Siri, and a more customizable Camera app before iOS 27 officially launches later this year.
