Explore all 16 Fortnite match overrides, what each one does, and where to find the override consoles during a match.
Match overrides are a new game mechanic introduced in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, which heavily influence the gameplay, usually for all players in a given match. This is only the second aspect added in the ongoing season that reasonably benefits the player who activates it, with the other one being Fortnite Override’s loot hacks.
Since being rolled out in Epic’s multiplayer title, the list of match overrides has grown, with new ones providing players more choice over which gameplay variables they want to change. The list below contains all match overrides available in Fortnite, their locations, and what they do.
There are a total of 16 different match overrides in the game, with only a random selection from them becoming available to choose at an override console during a match. While a few Rare and Mythic match overrides trigger a change for your squad exclusively, a majority of them affect all the players in the lobby. After activating an override of the former kind, your location is also revealed to others in the match.
The full list of match overrides, along with their respective function, is shared below.

The Fortnite Override season originally kicked off with 12 match overrides. Then, after the Fortnite v42.10 update, Action Hero, Big Head Mode, Prop Hunt, and Sharpshooter were added to the mix. Similarly, you can expect more match overrides to join the list as subsequent updates are released.
There are a total of seven different locations in the Fortnite Override Battle Royale map where you can find override consoles. However, only one such console is active and marked on the map at any given time.
You must be the first person to reach an active override console in order to enable one of the given match overrides. If someone has already activated a marked override console, it appears on the map with a green tick.
It’s worth noting that there are two CPU-controlled guards near any given override console. You can easily sneak past them and interact with the console, but if they spot you, they will open fire. Upon activating a console, your username is broadcasted to other players in the match.
The locations marked by a red circle on the map below are where you can find the override consoles in Fortnite Battle Royale.

Match overrides have undoubtedly inserted a fun way for players to tweak Fortnite’s rules, as per their liking, for the duration of a match. Some of them, such as Constant Heal and Sonic Speed, are purely utilitarian, whereas certain others, such as Big Head Mode and Prop Hunt, bring comedic-cum-strategic opportunities to the game.
The most powerful match overrides in my experience so far have been the Extra Life and the Power Pickaxe. While the former lets you play more naturally, thanks to the assurance provided by a bonus life, the latter is immensely useful for offence-heavy playstyles and can even eliminate enemies with just one hit of your pickaxe. So, when making a choice at the override consoles, it is advisable to take note of these things.
