Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reports Apple plans a larger HomeView with a 9-inch screen that turns 360 degrees, expected in 2027 or 2028. Apple has not confirmed it.
Apple is planning a higher-end HomeView with a 9-inch screen that swivels a full 360 degrees on a robotic arm, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He wrote in his October 18 Power On newsletter that he expects the device to launch in 2027 or 2028. Apple has not announced it, and no name or price has been reported.
The current HomeView is the one Apple announced on October 13. It has a 7-inch screen on a domed speaker base, and a hinge tilts the display up or down. It costs $299 and ships November 13.
The model Gurman describes would put a 9-inch display on a robotic arm that can turn it through a full circle. The current HomeView’s screen only tilts.
iClarified and The Apple Post, both summarizing the newsletter, add two details. The device carries the internal codename J595, and it would use voice recognition to work out who is speaking and turn the screen toward that person.
Both describe the device as an addition to the lineup that sits above the $299 model. The Apple Post compares the turning screen to Center Stage, which the current HomeView uses in FaceTime calls to keep participants framed. The reports do not mention the new model’s chip or camera.
The launch window covers two years. Gurman suggested the names HomeView Max, HomeView Ultra, and HomeView 360, and the names are speculative. Apple has not used any of the three.
No price has been reported. iClarified’s summary says Gurman suspects Apple kept the current HomeView at $299 by building units early, before this year’s memory shortage raised component costs. A bigger screen, a motor, and a place above the $299 model point to a higher price.
Pre-orders for the 7-inch model are open now, and Apple’s October 13 announcement does not mention a larger one.
Gurman reported in August 2024 that Apple was developing a tabletop device that uses a thin robotic arm to move a large screen. Actuators would tilt the display up and down and spin it 360 degrees. It was described as a smart home command center, a video-calling machine, and a remote-controlled home security tool.
In August 2025, Bloomberg reported that the tabletop robot was targeted for 2027. That report described a display of about 7 inches on a motorized arm that could extend about six inches from its base. It placed a stationary smart home hub ahead of the robot, in 2026, and that hub arrived this month as HomeView.
Set against those reports, the new one raises the screen from about 7 inches to 9 and adds 2028 as a possible launch year.
HomeView was originally meant to launch in March 2025, alongside Siri’s AI overhaul. Gurman reported that Siri’s problems pushed the hub to 2026. Apple announced it on October 13 with Siri AI still in beta. The larger model is built around voice recognition, so its date could depend on Siri as well.
Bloomberg’s September 30 report on the display that became HomeView put its screen at 6 inches. Apple announced a 7-inch display on October 13. A size reported this far ahead of a launch is a plan that can still change, and Apple has not confirmed the 9-inch figure or anything else in the report.
