Apple’s long-rumored smart home hub is reportedly on track to launch sometime between October 2026 and early 2027, according to a new report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

Rather than releasing a single smart display, Apple is reportedly developing both tabletop and wall-mounted versions designed for different rooms throughout the home, with Siri serving as the primary way users interact with the device.

The smart home hub is expected to feature a 7-inch display paired with a HomePod-like speaker. Apple reportedly envisions it as a central smart home controller for everyday tasks, including managing HomeKit accessories, making FaceTime calls, viewing calendars, controlling media playback, and accessing information through Siri AI.

Apple is building the hub around Siri and smart home controls

According to the report, Apple plans to offer both tabletop and wall-mounted versions of the smart home hub, making it suitable for locations such as the kitchen, living room, bedroom, or hallway.

Instead of relying on a single shared display, Apple wants the device to fit naturally into different spaces around the home. Bloomberg reports that the company expects some households to purchase multiple hubs to create a connected smart home experience.

The report also says the device will run a new operating system based on tvOS. Its interface is expected to blend design elements from watchOS and iOS, featuring app icons, widgets, and customizable clock faces on the main screen.

FaceTime, HomeKit, and personalized experiences are expected

Apple is also reportedly working on personalized features for the smart home hub.

According to Bloomberg, the device will use facial recognition to identify the person standing in front of it and automatically surface relevant information, such as calendars, reminders, or personalized widgets. The interface is also expected to dynamically adjust the size of on-screen elements based on how close the user is to the display.

In addition to controlling HomeKit accessories, users are expected to be able to make FaceTime calls, play music, check calendars, browse photo galleries, and use the hub as an intercom between Apple devices throughout the home.

Bloomberg also reports that Apple is continuing development of an advanced indoor security camera designed to compete with products such as Amazon Ring, further expanding the company’s smart home ecosystem.

While Apple has yet to officially announce the smart home hub, the report suggests the company is moving closer to entering the rapidly growing smart home display market with a Siri-first experience.
