Apple has not cancelled its big glass-heavy iPhone redesign. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the glass-centric overhaul planned for the iPhone’s 20th anniversary is still coming in 2027, and Apple’s product roadmap hasn’t changed. The report lands a day after an analyst claimed the project was dead.

What the 2027 iPhone Pro will reportedly look like

Gurman says Apple expects to launch iPhone Pro models next year with a new glassy look. The phones, known internally as V73 and V74, use glass on the front and back, and the material curves into the sides of the device with a metal band running through the middle.

That is not the same thing as a true all-glass iPhone, and that distinction seems to be the source of the confusion. Gurman notes Apple did explore a more ambitious version that used even more glass instead of metal, but it was scrapped early in development. Joining the glass panels together proved difficult, and the design couldn’t be produced reliably at scale.

The cancellation claim came from Jefferies

A day earlier, Jefferies analyst Edison Lee said his firm’s supply-chain checks showed the all-glass anniversary iPhone had been cancelled over poor production yields. Jefferies downgraded Apple to Underperform and cut its price target to $263.66, arguing the cancellation weakens Apple’s ability to push iPhone prices higher. Lee had estimated the all-glass model would have sold at a blended price of around $2,060.

A curved-glass iPhone Pro would be the biggest visual change to the lineup in years, and it fits Apple’s long-running goal of a phone that looks like a single slab of glass.

The redesign also arrives as Apple reshuffles its release calendar. Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple to split its iPhone launches into two waves, with Pro models in the fall and standard models the following spring, and the first foldable iPhone is expected to debut in 2026 before the anniversary model lands.

As always with reports this far out, details can shift before launch. But for now, the redesign everyone assumed was dead appears to be very much alive.
