Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone may have appeared in a new leak, potentially revealing one of the colors the company could offer at launch.

The image, shared by leaker Ice Universe on Weibo, allegedly shows Apple’s foldable iPhone in a white finish. While the authenticity of the image cannot be independently verified, the leak arrives as reports suggest Apple is moving closer to mass production of its first foldable smartphone.

A white finish may be one of the launch colors

According to the leak, the foldable iPhone could be available in a white color option at launch.

Fellow leaker Instant Digital has also claimed that white is currently the only color multiple leakers have mentioned so far.

Even if the image is authentic, it likely shows a dummy unit rather than a production-ready device, making it difficult to draw firm conclusions about the final hardware design.

Apple could take a conservative approach to colors

Reports suggest Apple could offer fewer color choices for its foldable iPhone than it does for its standard Pro models.

A recent supply chain report claimed the second color option may be an indigo finish similar to the Deep Blue color expected on the iPhone 17 Pro.

Meanwhile, Mark Gurman has said Apple is likely to avoid brighter colors and instead stick with more traditional finishes such as white, silver, black, or space gray.

Apple has often taken a conservative approach to colors when introducing entirely new product categories.

The iPhone X, for example, launched in just Silver and Space Gray, while several other premium Apple devices debuted with a limited selection of finishes before expanding their color options in later generations.

That strategy could be even more relevant for a foldable iPhone given the added manufacturing complexity. Producing a foldable device is significantly more challenging than manufacturing a standard iPhone, which could make a smaller selection of colors easier to manage during the first generation.

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously warned that supply could remain constrained through the end of 2026. With pricing expected to exceed $2,000, Apple may choose to prioritize production efficiency and yield rates over offering a wider range of finishes.

Apple’s foldable iPhone is currently expected to launch alongside the next-generation Pro iPhone models in September 2026.

The final color lineup remains uncertain for now, but current rumors suggest Apple may prioritize a small number of classic finishes rather than a broader range of options for its first foldable smartphone.
