WhatsApp for Mac could soon adopt Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, bringing translucent effects and a more modern macOS-inspired interface to the messaging app.
WhatsApp is reportedly working on bringing Apple’s Liquid Glass design language to its Mac app, making the messaging platform feel more aligned with the look and feel of modern Apple software.
The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo, which says the redesign is currently under development and not yet available to beta testers.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is preparing a new interface for macOS that more closely aligns with Apple’s Liquid Glass design language introduced in its latest software updates.
The redesign is expected to bring:
The redesign is not particularly surprising, since WhatsApp’s Mac app already shares much of its underlying framework with the iPad version through Apple’s Catalyst technology.
As a result, incorporating more Liquid Glass-inspired components could help WhatsApp feel more at home alongside Apple’s latest software releases.
Meta has already been testing Liquid Glass-inspired changes in WhatsApp for iPhone, including updates to chat screens, navigation bars, reaction menus, and message controls.
Bringing those changes to Mac could make WhatsApp feel more integrated within Apple’s ecosystem.
Based on what has been discovered so far, the update appears to focus more on appearance rather than introducing major new features. It could make the app look more consistent with modern macOS apps that are gradually adopting Apple’s newer design language.
The feature is still under development, and Meta has not shared a timeline for beta testing or public availability. That means the final design could still change before it reaches users.
For now, it looks like WhatsApp for Mac could be the next part of Meta’s app lineup to receive a visual overhaul.
