  • More translucent interface elements
  • Glass-like visual effects
  • Updated navigation components
  • An interface that feels more in line with modern macOS apps

The redesign is not particularly surprising, since WhatsApp’s Mac app already shares much of its underlying framework with the iPad version through Apple’s Catalyst technology.

As a result, incorporating more Liquid Glass-inspired components could help WhatsApp feel more at home alongside Apple’s latest software releases.

Meta has been gradually updating WhatsApp’s design

Meta has already been testing Liquid Glass-inspired changes in WhatsApp for iPhone, including updates to chat screens, navigation bars, reaction menus, and message controls.

Bringing those changes to Mac could make WhatsApp feel more integrated within Apple’s ecosystem.

Based on what has been discovered so far, the update appears to focus more on appearance rather than introducing major new features. It could make the app look more consistent with modern macOS apps that are gradually adopting Apple’s newer design language.

The feature is still under development, and Meta has not shared a timeline for beta testing or public availability. That means the final design could still change before it reaches users.

For now, it looks like WhatsApp for Mac could be the next part of Meta’s app lineup to receive a visual overhaul.
