Olivia Rodrigo coming to Fortnite? Here’s what we know so far

For a long time, Olivia Rodrigo has been among the most highly requested celeb additions for Fortnite. If a new in-game tease is anything to go by, it looks like Epic Games may finally be ready to fulfill those fans’ wishes.

From Ariana Grande to Travis Scott, an array of popular singers have previously made their way into the online multiplayer title. And, as of now, Laufey is the central figure in Fortnite Festival, also receiving skins and other items themed around her. As things stand, the latest name on this list could possibly be that of Olivia Rodrigo.

Olivia Rodrigo Fortnite collab rumor explained

On June 12, Fortnite leaker @Luwwani stumbled upon new models of a tree and a knife in Fortnite’s game files. This was soon found out to be for a new map location, close to Sinister Strip, depicting a tree with a swing attached to its branch and a knife stuck in its trunk. Another X user, @Wensoing, saw its apparent connection to an impending Fortnite-Olivia Rodrigo collaboration.

This rumor grew stronger after popular leaker @FireMonkey corroborated it and shared that the said collab was “coming soon”. The post drew people’s attention to how both elements, the swing and the stuck knife, are elements that tease Rodrigo’s arrival in the shooter game.

On the one hand, the swing is a central element on the cover of the American singer’s latest album, titled “you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love”. On the other hand, the knife stuck in the trunk could be seen as a direct reference to the alternate cover of Rodrigo’s album. Moreover, both these things also feature heavily in the promotional images shot for the project.

What’s more is that the day @Luwwani’s post sharing the newly added items surfaced online was also the day Rodrigo’s album hit the shelves. All these signs together have convinced a section of Fortnite players of Olivia Rodrigo’s much-awaited entry in the game.

Although more details about this rumored addition won’t become clear until the new update is live, that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating what this collab could entail. The chances of it simply bringing an Olivia Rodrigo skin to the Item Shop are somewhat higher than those of the 23-year-old musician being added to Fortnite Festival, as its current season doesn’t end until July 29.

Regardless, it will be interesting to keep an eye on the official Fortnite account for any updates regarding an Olivia Rodrigo collab. If this anticipated addition becomes real, Fortnite would have added yet another highly popular singer to the fold after introducing Lisa, Chappell Roan, and Laufey over the past several months.
