Learn how to install watchOS 27 developer beta 7 on your Apple Watch and get early access to Apple's latest features before the public release.
Apple has now released watchOS 27 developer beta 7, and if WWDC 2026 left you eager to try it, you no longer have to wait. Build 24R5358a arrives just a week after beta 6, with Apple shifting into the weekly cadence typical of the final stretch before release. This build focuses on bug fixes, stability, and polish rather than new features, but it carries forward the full watchOS 27 feature set: Siri AI with back-and-forth conversations, Workout Buddy with iPhone-free coaching and progressive metrics, a new dynamic app grid, smarter Smart Stack suggestions with a one-handed tap gesture, a unified Find My app with Precision Finding, custom Wallet passes, Cycle Tracking perimenopause notifications, and battery optimization tools that can suggest turning off rarely used features.
That said, there is one critical thing to know before you proceed. Unlike iPhone or Mac, you cannot downgrade an Apple Watch after installing a beta. If something goes wrong, returning to an earlier watchOS version is not an option you can do yourself. It would require sending the watch to Apple for service, which is not covered under warranty. Only install this on a secondary Apple Watch you can live without.
Still want in? Here’s everything you need to know about installing watchOS 27 developer beta 7 on your Apple Watch.
Before you begin, keep the following requirements and limitations in mind:
Apple has confirmed that watchOS 27 supports the following Apple Watch models:

Before proceeding, ensure that the Apple Account on your paired iPhone is enrolled in the Apple Developer Program. You’ll also need to install iOS 27 Developer Beta on the paired iPhone, as watchOS 27 beta updates aren’t available on devices running a public version of iOS.
Once everything is set up, you’re ready to install the beta.
Now that your Apple Watch is eligible for beta updates, installing watchOS 27 Developer Beta is fairly straightforward. Here’s how:
If you don’t see the watchOS 27 Developer Beta in the Software Update section, don’t panic. In most cases, one of the following requirements hasn’t been met yet:
Apple’s beta servers can also get overloaded shortly after a new release, so sometimes the simplest solution is to wait a while and try again later.
Unlike iOS and macOS betas, watchOS betas are difficult to remove once installed.
You can leave the beta program at any time and stop receiving future beta builds. However, the version already installed on your Apple Watch will stay there, as Apple doesn’t provide a user-facing option to revert to an earlier watchOS release.
Once the beta is on your watch, you’re essentially committed to it until Apple ships the stable update in the fall.
As tempting as it is to install watchOS 27 right away, I’d recommend thinking twice before putting the first developer beta on your primary Apple Watch.
In my experience, early watchOS betas tend to be more unpredictable than iPhone betas. Bugs, battery drain, delayed notifications, and syncing issues aren’t unusual, and if something goes wrong, you can’t simply downgrade your Apple Watch at home.
Unless you’re eager to get your hands on a particular watchOS 27 feature, I’d give the beta a little time to mature before installing it on an Apple Watch you use every day.
Installing watchOS 27 developer beta 7 is the fastest way to try Apple’s newest Apple Watch features before the official rollout. Beta 7 is one of the last developer betas before the Release Candidate, so it’s more stable than earlier builds and gives you a near-final experience of what watchOS 27 will feel like when it ships.
Just remember that beta software comes with trade-offs, and on Apple Watch, downgrading to a stable version is not possible on your own. Only install it on a secondary watch you can afford to keep on beta until the public release arrives in September alongside the new iPhone and Apple Watch hardware.
If you prefer a smoother experience, the fifth public beta is already available and is the safer option for most users.
